So easy a caveman can do it.

Okay, so for my first DIY "project" (and you'll understand in just a moment why the quotes are appropriate), I decided to start simply.  Like, really simply.  Like, EMBARRASSINGLY simply.  However, I'm rather pleased with the outcome.

I stumbled across this idea in several places on Pinterest (surprise, surprise), and laughed out loud at how easy this was. By now you're saying, "What? What's so easy? For Pete's sake, stop babbling and just TELL US ALREADY!"  So here we go.  Are you ready?.............Bandana.  Headband.  I KNOW, RIGHT? Embarrassingly simple, can't believe I haven't really tried it yet, feel dumb for not having thought of it myself, and kind of ashamed that this is my first "project" (see why the quotes are necessary now?).  Now, I've tried using bandanas in my hair before, but they've always just looked hokey.  But for some reason, this (I think) turned out cute in a 1950's, Rosey the Riveter kind of way.  So, here's what you do:

1. Start with a SQUARE bandana, scarf, or other piece of fabric. (Note:  Notice that the print on this scarf isn't gorgeous, but it looks nice all folded up.)
 2. Fold the fabric into a triangle.  It doesn't have to be exactly even, just close enough.
 3. Take the pointy end of the triangle and fold it again down toward the long edge.

4. Take the top edge and fold it again down toward the bottom edge.  At this point, if you want a wider headband, skip ahead to step 6.
 5. I wanted a thinner headband, so I folded the top edge down toward the bottom edge one more time.
 6. Last step! Take your headband (whatever width you chose) and tie it around your head so the knot is at the top.  You'll have "tails" after you tie your knot - simply tuck those puppies into the headband and....
Voila!  A super, SUPER easy new hair accessory!  And a great way to use up scrap fabric or otherwise ignored scarves/bandanas.

Project 1 a resounding success!  I realize that to some of you this might have been obvious, and a bit of a let-down, but don't you fret.  You'll see challenge soon enough.
